Consumers Drive Change

-- Quote of the Day --  Count the garden by the flowers, never by the leaves that fall. Count your life with smiles and not the tears that roll.  ~Author Unknown -- Positive News --  Toyota came up with a more efficient compact hybrid vehicle (37 KM per Liter), this is said to be the one of the most efficient hybrids out there. Interesting!  My aunt also invested in a hybrid, and I'm seeing more and more of them on the roads. It is inspiring to see the changes we have seen in our lifetime... and hope to see much greater changes in the next few years. When manufactures see the desire they will build and sell what we want  - as such consumers have a huge impact on the direction of the world's future.  Buy only what you believe in, what you can stand behind, and what leads to the kind of world you want to see.      Find Dave and Lillian Brummet, excerpts from their books, th...

Inspiring Change

-- Inspiring Change --  The other day we were driving through Crawford Bay toward the ferry on our way out to Nelson BC for a shopping trip - when I saw a really skinny fella in bicycle gear setting up what looked like a unicycle. Curiosity peaked as we went by and we talked about riding a unicycle, how difficult that must be. In my mind I was hoping the guy was OK as he seemed kinda skinny to me. Anyway, today on a community forum I found out that this fella is riding all the way from Victoria BC to Canada's capital on the other side of the country... to raise awareness and to inspire a call-to-action regarding making positive environmental changes. As I write you this moment, he is heading down our main street here in our home city of Creston BC. Check out this video (7 min) that explains what this is all about: http://unityfortheclimate.ca/about The site page has more than the video that I mention here, scroll down that link's page to fi...

Inspiring Change

-- Quote of the Day --      "I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in." ~ John Muir    -- Positive News --  Kudos to the Japan Electrical Manufacturers' Association which reached a 35 % reduction on carbon emissions over a 5-year period (2008-2012) voluntary action plan for global warming mitigation. Business actions like these have a profound  impact, going  far beyond just the initial energy, fuel and carbon savings... which is in itself a powerful thing. Beyond this though the action will inspire their customers, their employees and other people in their industry as well.   Find Dave and Lillian Brummet, excerpts from their books, their radio program, blog, and more at: http://brummet.ca * Support the Brummets by telling your friends, clicking those social networking buttons, or visiting the Brummet's St...

World of Writing

-- World of Writing --  * We are joined today by Christopher L. Hedges who shares his experiences in the world of writing. Christopher is a journalist and best-selling author specializing in the area of politics and society. He has traveled in Paris, Europe, Asia... and has now settled down in Florida (USA) where he pursues his passion for playing with words on paper.       Q: Who inspired you to pursue a career in writing? A: I was inspired to pursue a writing career by Wesley Whittaker, the co-author of several books that have been published by John Wiley & Sons, whom I met at a Toastmasters meeting purely by chance. I was running a struggling club that Robin, Wes’ wife, was assigned to mentor and he just happened to be tagging along one night. After the idea of writing my first book hit me, I sent my first 8,000 words out to a handful of friends to read. Was the idea good? Did the writing connect with you? I was looking ...

Update

OK - It looks like we have got our office back in action. Unfortunately because our old harddrive fried and the parts are now obsolete, we were unable to recover the data I had stored there. So I lost about a year's worth of things I hadn't backed up like marketing files, contact lists, important dates, schedules... But I am back in action in the office at least now that I am no longer waiting. It will take a while for me to figure things out and get the office working properly but the waiting is over. I appreciate everyone's patience in this matter and promise to begin posting regularly on this blog as of tomorrow :) Find Dave and Lillian Brummet, excerpts from their books, their radio program, blog, and more at: http://brummet.ca * Support the Brummets by telling your friends, clicking those social networking buttons, or visiting the Brummet's Store - and help raise funds for charity as well!
Hey Everyone! Thank you for your patience while we reorganize our office - The repair shop tells me it will be a few days yet but they'll have us up in action by the end of the week if all goes well. Whew! It's been a bit of a trial for me personally - I mean with out my calendar I have no idea what my schedule is, where I'm to appear in the media, or what I've committed to. All my data is on that one computer and so until it is back in my hands and ready to use, I'm lost! lol I have heard from a lot of you who totally understand what I am going through. Some of you have stated that you lost your data permanently and I can't even imagine going through that. Thankfully the repair shop tells me that my data should be recoverable... whew! ...crossing fingers. Just a heads up - be sure to back up your data regularly. We were only backing up every 6 months or so... which meant that if I did lose my data I'd lose a half - year's worth of work! It is recomm...
