Jan 25-31st in most regions across US and Canada are celebrating – National Family Literacy Week (Canada) and National Literacy Action Week (USA)

“…People don’t realize there are grants out there for writers. …There are grants ranging from state fellowship – and every state has them and those are general fellowships based on your submission, publication history or application … Then you’ve got retreats – most retreats that you see have a scholarship or fellowship program. You can get away from a few days to a year and they are everywhere, from the state, to France… to Porto Rico… …and then there are conferences and a good many of them have fellowship or scholarship programs available. If you want to go to a retreat or a conference, pick up the phone and ask if they have any kind of financial assistance…”
