Have you ever wondered what’s going on behind the scenes in one of those “certified backyard habitats”? Want to see an amazing example of how one program participant designed a gorgeous and habitat-rich garden under her towering oak trees? Now's your chance!

On Saturday, Sept 15th from 11am – 4pm, join the Backyard Habitat Certification Program for its first Open Garden event in Oak Grove. This event will feature the gorgeous, gold-certified yard of Patricia McMackin. Her over-sized lot features seven towering Oregon white oak trees, complimented by a native oak-scape with more than 30 species of appropriate native plants in their understory. They also have eighteen raised beds for vegetables and fruit, a solar greenhouse, an 80-square-foot treehouse for the kids, fourteen beautiful heritage chickens, two dogs, and hundreds of mason bees.
