Children's author interview

World of Writing - Author Interview Author Angela Legh joins us today to share her experiences in the realm of writing and to discuss an important social issue we should all be more aware of. For 54 years, Angela was bullied, first by her father, then by the man she married. In both life stages, a fire caused the family to break up. This experience led to her emotional intelligence guidance in the form of the children's book series, The Bella Santini Chronicles , received high praise and is known for helping children learn to manage their emotions. Visit Angela on Instagram or LinkedIn . Q: When you started writing this project, did you plan on it being a series, or did it grow into one?  A: I began writing the series as a story for a friend's daughter. The story developed into a 50,000-word document, too big for the age group I was writing for. So, on the advice of my publisher, I split the document into books one and two of the Bella Santini Chronicles . I had no intention o...

Of Blogging and Of Bullying

-- Quote of the Day --  Re: bullying :   “Whenever you hear someone being called names or being blamed for something you know it isn’t right, you know it has gone beyond teasing. If you hear that please step in, you need to stand up and say something. I believe that we are all equal and should be treated equal. And tell someone or many people so that you know people know about it and someone will step in. …sometimes even teachers won’t step in, to know things like that are happening drives me crazy. We all need to step in – it will continue to happen if you don’t step up and step in and say something about it.” ~ Josie Milner Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode that aired back on July 30 2013 … titled: Musicians Making aDifference  (*Click on the title to access the full discussion)  -- Media Event -- Please do join me over...

Consciousness & Peace

-- Quote of the Day --  "I believe a man is born first unto himself for the happy developing of himself - The world is a nursery and the pretty things are to be snatched for, and pleasant things tasted. Some people seem to exist thus right to the end.  But most are born again upon entering manhood;  they are born to 'humanity' - to a consciousness of all the laughing, and the never ceasing murmur of pain and sorrow that comes from the multitudes." ~ DH Lawrence -- Conscious Discussions Talk Radio -- Violence in society, anger in the classroom, bullying in the fields...  -- Chatter -- In keeping with our topic today: Youth - I wanted to share with you a poem (in lieu of the Quote of the Day) excerpted from my book Towards Understanding . This particular piece was written during a momentary depression over ethics in society - how we are taught not to be all these "good" things and that life will be rosey, but we are not taught that most adults are not able to live up to this ideal, and the world is a lot harsher than idealistic childhood views can be. We often think, as children, that when we grow up things will be brighter, better... but it isn't always so - at least not without a great deal of time and effort... and sometimes, losing connections with false friendships along the way. So this is the emotion that this poem is trying to express. Beguiling Youth *excerpted from page 135 of Towards Understanding Self-criticism denies me experiences while shame holds me in my past. Doubt in social circles leads me to my own grounds wh...
