Defining Compassionate Marketing

Defining Compassionate Marketing  I was asked recently to explain the business term:  Compassionate Marketing I will use a fictional business as an example, and we’ll call it “ Friday ” – just for fun.  So Friday’s staff decide to prioritize consumer's trust and gaining their loyalty to a particular brand or product.  One of the projects leading to this goal will be using Compassionate Marketing techniques – like finding actions, projects, events that help them demonstrate kindness, honesty, education. Friday decides to ask questions or bring up topics that will improve connections with staff, networking contacts and, of course, clients.  They pointedly communicate their efforts to the public through press releases, online platforms, Socials, and media. They have brochures in the waiting room, a spot on the wall for a calendar of events or a poster, and they have a newsletter that they can utilize to help spread the word.  Friday’s management knows that t...

Why entrepreneurship?

Hustle & Grind Podcast focuses on conversations that reveal why entrepreneurs took the leap into self-employment.  It was an honour to participate as a featured guest. This interview was recorded a little more than a year ago, and was released in early May. Host Andrew Chestnutt and his team run Nickel City Learning Solutions -  which includes this podcast. Sending hugs to Janet, Andrew's assistant for her hard work in helping to make the experience a pleasant one. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/networking-and-marketing-with-lillian-brummet/id1745209794?i=1000705796823 ~~~     Follow us & find our Books:   on Amazon Visit:   Drum It With Brummet Blog Subscribe:   Brummet Media YouTube Channel   ~~~

be prepared

One of the kindest thing I have seen in the realm of entrepreneurship are businesses that insist on having a few products, gift certificates and blank gift cards stored in a cupboard.  Business owners that do this find that makes it easier to spontaneously share something nice.  Super handy especially if you didn't know about the event earlier, or that moment where you are inspired to say "Thank you" .   Take, for instance, the scenario that your clients just told you that they were celebrating their 20th anniversary. It is easy to excuse yourself for a moment, go to the back and put a little package or sign a card before returning to the room. Tuck in a few of tchotchkes, sample products or or gift certificates - whether they are in-house or they are for your networking connections.  People will remember you and your business for a very long time. They will feel valued. They will certainly talk about the thoughtful gift for several days to come. They will also ...

Networking tip

Today, we'll discuss "Anne" (a fictional character) who is considering a variety of ways to supporting her contacts, valuable connections, cherished suppliers, clients, customers, neighbours and staff. This year, "Anne" is making the decision to create an action plan that will enhance and solidify connections within her networks. She has decided to create dialogue via surveys and by directly asking questions that reveal what interests her contacts may have - both professionally and personally, Learning more about their business means she can refer people to that contact more easily. It also means she is aware of their products and services.  Based on this Anne can now network by obtaining gift certificates from her contacts, and use these in her upcoming contests, door prize packages, or draws. She had done some research on a slow afternoon, and discovered several holiday calendars online and these gave her plenty of ideas for fun and unusual events to celebrate...

What does the term 'Entrepreneur' mean?

For me - the term Entrepreneur brings to mind freedom and responsibility.  It means we have the freedom to make decisions  ...and the responsibility of making things happen  – because no one else will, we are on our own.  Therefore we have to be: Strong enough to be independent.  Self-disciplined enough to follow through. Tenacious enough to pursue dreams, despite the aching fear.  Flexible enough to bend around obstacles.  ~~~     Follow & Find Books:   on Amazon Visit:   Drum It With Brummet Blog Subscribe:   Brummet Media YouTube Channel   ~~~

Business Owner Advice

Thank you for your patience while we transitioned to the new location and settled in. A lot has happened in just a short time from that moment in April when we tentatively queried a realtor about downsizing. By mid-May we had downsized our belongings, relocated the drum teaching/repair studio and moved in to our new-to-us "tiny home" living. We chose to do this in order to focus our energy on living life fully, projects in the to-do list and in preparation for the semi-retirement stage that we hope to obtain in the future. We also said "farewell" to our fuzzy cutie fur-kid Korma (in picture below)... as she had reached the appropriate age for letting her go. Yeah - that was a lot to take on and it happened super fast... right?! Faster than expected, that's for sure. However that was the situation and so we pivoted our attention from our publication schedule and action plan in order to focus on the tasks at hand. Well, the office is now set up and ready for us ...

Business Terms 2

We have produced several videos to date helping to define business & marketing acronyms & how they might apply to both a single person with one book all the way to a small business with an office or retail establishment.  This new series continues with this by looking into: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & ESG (Environment, Social, and Government) are similar terms used to describe the same concept. ESG is a term most often used by people involved with investors.  *  A bit of dyslexia showing there lol I accidentally said "CRS" instead of "CSR" a couple of times. Apologies... but you know what I meant, right? :) Learn how these can be used to benefit your entrepreneur journey today:     https://youtu.be/wr65n7g8ILw ~~~     Follow the Brummet's & Find their  Books:   on Amazon Visit:   Drum It With Brummet Blog Subscribe:   Brummet Media YouTube Channel   ~~~

Part 2: 3 follow up activities

Today we are continuing the discussion of utilizing 3 follow up activities and how this can be essential if your aim is to gain business success over the long-term. In Part 1 (published Nov. 4th) we discussed what the 3 activities are.  The next step is to ease the workload that yearly follow-ups require, and be ready to receive a lot of responses. By this I mean that if we have offered to introduce them to a contact we need to be ready to do so. If we know that we will be offering interviews on our blog to last year's contacts then we need to have some interview questions ready to send off.  Or if we plan on suggesting projects to collaborate on, we need to have all the information ready for any responses you may receive.  It is helpful to develop 2 draft emails that can then be edited and personalized for each recipient.  https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B0845RLK1X One draft email is short, and is meant to show appreciation for past networking activities, or me...

3 types of follow up activities, Part 1

Today in the first of 2 articles on this topic we'll be discussing the 3 types of follow-up activities that every artist, entrepreneur or business owner should employ. Part 2 will be published on Nov 13th.  Some of our loyal readers may recall that we created a few videos on the Brummet Media Channel (YouTube) to help show others the value of taking the time to follow up. Now, keep in mind that the type of follow up you are taking on will depend entirely on what you are managing that month or that year. Perhaps that month you were reaching out to current and potential suppliers. The next month you might be doing a campaign to build on current connections. As such this article is to be used as a guide to help you develop the follow-up policy for your current situation.   Generally speaking, there are 3 types of follow-up: • Weekly • Monthly • Yearly The main rule here is to have a reason to reach out to your contacts without appearing as "spam" or annoying them. The...
