World of Podcasting, Interview

World of Podcasting - Interview Today we have the honour of featuring our good friend Betsy Wurzel Sloan on our blog. Betsy and I met via Alignable back in early 2022, began networking soon afterwards, and consider ourselves friends today. This woman works hard to make a positive difference, and we are thrilled to share this discussion with you - especially with September being  World Alzheimer’s Awareness Mont h . I was actually unaware of that fact until Betsy brought it to my attention.    Chatting with Betsy is where conversations for caregivers are held.  It is all about helping other caregivers. Caregiving is a job that leaves one often feeling that they are on that journey alone. Dealing with spouses, siblings, children or parents with  Alzheimer's, Dementia , or Parkinson's can be especially trying. This podcast provides a place of comfort and brings a sense of relief to those with unending stress.  ** Find the  Chatting with Betsy   ...

In the media

Media Appearance I was recently a guest on the Caregiver Cast podcast, a service provided through the   Caregiver Lifeline Community . Host Mary Petrucci and I had an incredibly powerful & healing, in-depth and brutally honest conversation about caregiving & grief. We speak about the echoes of guilt, the exhaustion... we offer tips and discuss the benefits of delegating.  * Note : During this discussion when we touched on being OK with delegating I wanted to clarify one thing here. ...If you are going to delegate, be sure to do so only when someone asks you how they might help ....and always thank them, sharing how it helped you. Avoid repeatedly relying on someone possibly weighing them down, allow them to ask if they can help again and then share some ways they might do so. :) https://caregivercast.libsyn.com/grieving-while-caregiving-w-lillian-brummet   ~~~   Discover Our Books on Amazon :  ~~~   Discover Our Books on Amazon :  ht...

Review - article

Book Review When I received The Sudden Caregiver - A Roadmap For Resilient Caregiving by Karen Warner Schueler , the book's topic brought up some haunting, memories of those who are no longer with us, parents we cared for during the end of their lives, friends we have said goodbye to, coworkers, neighbours and beloved fur-babies (aka pets) who have passed on.   As one ages, we come to realize that both caregiving and grief are guaranteed to touch our lives... sometimes monumental, heavy grief... sometimes mild and sad. I was a little concerned how the book would feel to read, if it would waken those memories of caregiving for our parents; the pangs of guilt, the angst, the joy the laughter... it is all there just a breath away.  I was pleased to discover that this book turned out to be a gentle guide for anyone facing caregiving, or for those of us who have already experienced it and fear facing it again. Karen kindly urges caregivers to allow themselves to be human. We will ...

End of Life Planning & Elder Care tips

- Quote of the Day --  “ We can’t be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in, but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea. Holding onto something that is good for you now, may be the very reason why you don’t have something better. ” ~ C.
