Bring on your personal strengths

Recognize, come to know and bring out your strengths * Written by: Jan Verhoeff who specializes in helping people recognize their abilities and proven skills gained in life experiences. She helps people give themselves the credit they deserves and look at their skill set differently. She invites our readers to visit her site at:    http://janverhoeff.com Recognize your strengths - the biggest fallacy in life is that we've gained nothing that we can use, as we grow older. Women, specifically seem to believe after the kids are grown up and gone, if they weren't involved in a career their skill-set is useless. When Jodi asked me last week about whether or not her skills as a writer, those ones she learned back in high school, were any good at this point in time, I said, "Don't you read now?" Totally in awe of the fact that people did go to school 'way back when' but they're still living now. How can that happen? Do they just use the skills they acq...

Green Jobs - Green Technology

-- Quote of the Day --   “The quality of what is on the paper is more important then what kind of paper you choose. …A good cover letter complements the resume offering information on why you are a good fit for that company. …They can address things in the resume such as a gap in employment, volunteering, etc. …Using QR codes allows - takes them to different links that offer a blog that is relevant to their career, their linked in profile, or online portfolio – they are the way of the future, and you stand out …shows that you are up-to-date with the current trends. ” ~ Melanie Denny Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode that aired back on Nov 29… titled: Professional Resumes   (*Click on the title to access the full discussion) -- Green Technology --  A lot of new jobs are being created in what is now dubbed the Green Co...

Recycling Creates Jobs

-- Positive News --  Today I felt compelled to share a press release that was sent our way, which shares information on how recycling has a direct impact on the economy. You'll see at the bottom of this press release contact information for those of you who would like to learn more about this topic. Half A Million New Jobs Could Be Created In Europe  By Recycling More !   President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso has called for the creation of 3 million new green jobs by 2020 in his ‘State of the Union’ speech to the European Parliament; this study shows that a significant portion of this target could be achieved through increased recycling across Europe. The EU’s current recycling target of 50% by 2020 will mean no overall increase in jobs, according to the research, as a reduction in waste levels is predicted by 2020. The report also shows that recycling creates around ten times more jobs per tonne than sending rubbish to landfil...

Interviews

-- Quote of the Day -- “… You can find a lot of information about the company online, but I suggest that you also watch the business news to see what is going on that affects that industry. …Most people overlook the fact that the front-end personnel often report to the CEO, so ask them what their name is and call them by their first name, ask them what they feel about working there. …get to know the team players and maybe take them out to lunch and get the inside scoop of what it is like and tips on what you can do. …Establish a file; sometimes you get a boost in salary or you get nice complements or people you can use as a referral – then you are well prepared to ask for that promotion. …Never be afraid to apply to a job, don’t listen to people who are telling you that you’ll never get that job .” ~ Elinor Stutz * Excerpted from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio show episode titled: Job Search/InterviewSkills http://www.blogtalkradio.com/con...
