Between the Dash

Living Between the Dash * Written by Tony Mckeown, who offers free resources and materials to empower your life via:   http://www.tonymckeown.com Several years ago, I was visiting my parent's grave site on a cold and wintry afternoon in late February. As you can imagine it was fraught with emotion and lacking any sense of purpose or future. It was a somber experience and as such, consumed my emotions. As I was wandering aimlessly around the cemetery, I was taken with the numerous grave sites with headstones embellished with words, which in most cases had been kept to twenty six or less, in order to fit on the stone. I was quite tearful as my parent's stone was yet to be unveiled, and we were all in a quandary as to how we could limit a person's life to twenty six words or less. It struck me as I pondered the headstones, how almost all of them had a dash entered between the dates. "Born" - "Died". i.e. Joseph Thomas January...

Life is a journey

Life’s A Journey * Written by: Patricia Gaines - http://www.lovebasedrelationships.com While walking in the forest one day with my dog Harlow a large tree fell. It didn't make a lot of noise when it hit the ground; most of the noise came as a result of interfering with the crushing of other trees. Nature can teach us life's lessons if we are aware of the energy that nature produces. On my life's journey, I have noticed that people create the most noise as they are falling or failing. Some get up and start over; others just lie on the ground making no attempt to get up. Last night my neighbor David and I discussed failure. David said when he failed at something he just quit. He doesn't have any interest in starting over. David mentioned that he can't understand my thought process. I just don't quit. To him failure means that he has actually failed and he doesn't want to give himself another chance. Failure is a method of renewing. Ju...

how is your temperament?

Temperament – In Life and At Work * Today's article was written by Douglas Rugh, who invites our readers to   find extensive information on his website: http://www.douglasrugh.com Free will can carry us far but not infinitely beyond our genetic limits. We can stretch ourselves like a rubber band can stretch, but only so much. It's like Stephen King is never going to be Stephen Colbert, no matter how much he polishes his comic delivery, and Stephen Colbert can never be Stephen King, no matter how much time he spends alone writing. A person's preference for stimulation turns out to be a definitional characteristic, and once you realize your own preferences, you can begin to intentionally situate yourself in environments favorable to your own temperament-neither over-stimulating nor under-stimulating, neither boring nor stressful. By attending to the range of preferences in your and your family's life, you can tap into increased energy and satisfaction. ...

to change and grow...

-- Quote of the Day --  "Sometimes in tragedy we find our life's purpose ; the eye sheds a tear to find its focus."  ~Robert Brault  Today's quote sends me to gratitude... I'm grateful for the tragedy, the grief, the hardships I've encountered so far in my 44 years on this earth in this life. Without them I wouldn't be where I am, with the people I love or the location that feeds my soul each day. I wouldn't have the skills I do, the passion I have to make a difference and live consciously with every moment I am given. I know what poverty is and how to deal with it without going crazy. When things go horribly wrong, when we loose someone, when life takes a bad turn we often realize just how resourceful we are, that we are stronger than we realized.  Each challenge is an opportunity - so when something pops up that you have to face, try changing your perception of it to being a chance to learn, to grow, to change. ...

Living Today

-- Quote of the Day --  "As we may miss the joy of life by dwelling on the past, so we miss the possibilities of the present if we expect life’s best days to be in the future. The good days are now." ~ Lionel Whiston  -- Living Life Today --  Today's quote has some importance in my life... After the suicide of my mom and step-dad, the loss of other family members and friends, witnessing illness and age-related emotional and physical woes... I realized that today is my golden moment, and to stop working and staking my hopes on some day in the future that may never come.  Taking time to live : to enjoy nature, to spend time with our fur-kids and playing in the garden, to leave a positive legacy every single day, to embrace the moment. One has to find a balance here of course because our lives, or our capacity to really live our lives, may not end tomorrow... we might reach retirement in good health, we might live a long time...

Life and Love

-- Quote of the Day --  “… When I think of ‘love’ I think of the life force for good. Its not just compassion it is also strength, it is not just acceptance and tolerance it is also accountability and responsibility; it is patient, but it is also perseverance and diligent and it is honest. …Whenever we find our sense of worth by something tangible or another human being, we’re on shaky ground because that can be taken away from us. Only what is inside can never be taken away. When we are aligned with love, then we have that no matter the loss.   …Love is always guided by knowledge, and knowledge breeds understanding. …When we choose to align with love we are naturally in harmony with ourselves, but also with others and with nature .” ~ Jan Denise Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode titled: A Sanctuary At Home   (*Click on the title to access the full discussion) -- Referral Corner -- ...
