Poetry

Occasionally I take the opportunity to share poetry here on this blog - Today I'll share a few excerpts from my book Towards Understanding: TRAPPED! There is but a child in me, Waiting to escape. To see the wonders of the world, And rid herself of hate. She wants to feel joy in living, And romantic summer eves. She dreams of running wild, Through autumn’s fallen leaves. But I keep her well in side; Afraid of experiencing pain. She shouldn’t have to cry, That sweet little child of mine. SOMEWHERE DOWN DEEP BELOW   Somewhere down deep below, Feelings inside me multiply and sow. The harder, colder feelings then enhance, And outside, they are determined to show. Sticking to all four sides, they take control. Bouncing back and forth, the inner starts an echo. Resounding lessons and sermons – All mixed up words that reap co...

Goal Setting & Challenges

-- Quote of the Day -- "Clouds come floating into my life,  No longer to carry rain or usher storm,  But to add color to my sunset sky ." ~ Rabindranath Tagore -- Conscious Discussions Talk Radio -- Today's featured guest, was unable to call in - AKK! So I was challenged to come up with content without a contingency show! lol - Serves me right for not being as prepared for such an event as I usually am. Anyway, what I did instead was to spontaneously read some poetry written since the release of my book Towards Understanding 's first edition (2004). This book is now in a revised, 2nd edition e-book format & will be released in print in June 2011. In the meantime, I hope you check out the e-book.  Although all but one of the poems I read today have been published in many different periodicals, I had not yet read many of them out loud -  so listeners are able to hear a raw, unpracticed reading of the poetry. :) This poetry, you heard today, will be includ...

Alternative Energy

-- Quote of the Day -- " The first step toward success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself ." ~ Mark Caine -- Alternative Energy -- Wind power definitely holds promise as one of the leading alternative energies being employed across the globe. There have been all kinds of innovations from learning how high they should be, what color they need to be, and how fast the blades turn - in order to have a safe co-existence with flying creatures and the voracious human need for land. Just recently I learned of a wind turbine that can fold as much as 90 degrees - preventing damage from strong winds, such as typhoons. A few weeks ago I had a discussion with an inventor on our radio show who was saying that this kind of damage, depending on the area, might be prevented with redesigning the shape of the blade, and having it automatically turn sideways, rather than facing a strong wind.  -- Did You Know?? -- Did you kno...

The opportunity to leave a lasting legacy comes in many forms

-- Quote of the Day -- “Don’t waste life in doubts and fears; spend yourself on the work before you, well assured that the right performance of this hour’s duties will be the best preparation for the hours and ages that will follow it.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson -- Conscious Discussions -- Former chemist and body builder joined us today on the Conscious Discussions talk radio show. We discovered how chronic illness does not just affect the patient, but everyone around them. Chris Tatevosian joins us to share his personal journey with Multiple Sclerosis – which you’ll hear us referring to as MS during today’s interview – and we’ll discover the amazing u-turn his life took when he discovered the wonderful legacy; his first book: Life Interrupted. * We had a sound issue at minute 46.46-47.40 - you'll want to mute your speakers for this one minute time period where we dealt with the feedback issue. I will contact the BTR station staff in hopes that they will find the time to edit that o...
