Poetry

Occasionally I take the opportunity to share poetry here on this blog - Today I'll share a few excerpts from my book Towards Understanding: TRAPPED! There is but a child in me, Waiting to escape. To see the wonders of the world, And rid herself of hate. She wants to feel joy in living, And romantic summer eves. She dreams of running wild, Through autumn’s fallen leaves. But I keep her well in side; Afraid of experiencing pain. She shouldn’t have to cry, That sweet little child of mine. SOMEWHERE DOWN DEEP BELOW   Somewhere down deep below, Feelings inside me multiply and sow. The harder, colder feelings then enhance, And outside, they are determined to show. Sticking to all four sides, they take control. Bouncing back and forth, the inner starts an echo. Resounding lessons and sermons – All mixed up words that reap co...

Writer's Advice - Reviews, Part 1

-- Brummet's In the Media  --  Join me today over at  WebbWeaver Books Radio where I'll be interviewed by host CK Webb at 9 AM Pacific this morning. The show will also be archived for those of you who cannot make the live broadcast. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/webbweaverbooks/2013/09/06/webbweaver-books-proudly-presents-author-lillian-brummet -- on reviews --    Over the next couple of weeks I'm going to offer some interesting and helpful information for writers in regards to obtaining and managing reviews of their work. This will be a 3 part series starting with today's installment: When to Get Reviews The best time to start getting reviews is long before the book has gone to print. When you think about it, how else do authors get those nice snippets from reviewers on their back cover, front cover, inside pages, websites and promotional materials prior to the release of their book? However, reviews are valuable at any...

Healing Our Selves

-- Quote of the Day --  I'm going to be happy.  I'm going to skip.  I'm going to be glad.  I'm going to smile a lot.  I'm going to be easy.  I'm going to count my blessings.  I'm going to look for reasons to feel good.  I'm going to dig up positive things from the past.  I'm going to look for positive things where I stand. I'm going to look for positive things in the future. It is my natural state to be a happy person.  It's natural for me to love and to laugh.  This is what is most natural for me.  I am a happy person! -Abraham -- Conscious Discussions Talk Radio --  * Airs live @ 10-11 AM (Pacifc)  - all episodes are archived indefinitely within moments after they air live, and are available for you to listen to later on at any time of day. Why Blogging Appeals To Me

A lot of people have asked me about the reasons behind my passion for blogging, what keeps me going, how I organize the posts and keep a daily activity going here. In fact I've written a few articles about this and discuss it in depth in our Purple Snowflake Marketing book... I thought I'd share a brief overview of what blogging means to me and how I go about the process of managing the blog. I started blogging back in the hay-day of MySpace in 2005 I think it was when their members were offered a blog along with the page on this site. There, I basically placed announcements like when a book was coming out or where a review was published and that kind of thing. So these posts really went out only when there was something to announce and there was not real scheduling involved. As time went by I learned that blogging can, and should, be much more than blatant self-promotion. I slowly realized that I could use the blog to help make a difference in...

Businesses going green

-- Conscious Business --  Information obtained from facebook: Congrats to  Ideal Market for their waste reduction efforts. This store has found unique and interesting ways to recycle most of their waste - everything from organics to scrap metal (including unusable metal shopping carts, shelving, and tables).   Food scraps and compostable paper products like paper towels from the produce department, break room, and kitchens are composted.  They also practice Zero Waste purchasing, being conscious of what their money is being spent on - such as: paper products like copy paper, napkins, paper towels, and toilet paper with at least 80% post-consumer recycled content.  Reuse is also a priority at Ideal Market : goods like bread and other perishable foods are donated to three local shelters at the end of each day, used produce boxes go to local farmers, and used building materials are sent to the ReSource Yard ...

Positive News

-- Quote of the Day --  “Aim for success, not perfection.  Never give up your right to be wrong,  because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life.  Remember that fear always lurks behind perfectionism.  Confronting your fears and allowing yourself the right to be human can,  paradoxically, make yourself a happier and more productive person.  ~ David Burns -- Conscious Discussions Talk Radio --  * Airs live @ 10-11 AM (Pacifc)  - all episodes are archived indefinitely within moments after they air live, and are available for you to listen to later on at any time of day.
