Recycling

-- Quote of the Day --  “Perfect valor consists in doing without witnesses that which we would be capable of doing before everyone.”  ~ John Kennedy  -- Recycling Made Easy -- A lot of businesses are becoming aware of the importance of recycling, and may also be aware of how much money they can save with this one simple action – however they may not have efficient systems set up, enabling their workers to participate. The first step to setting up efficient systems is to fully understand the recycling programs that are available to you. Schedule one of your employees, or a summer student helper, to put in a couple hours of research starting with the city website where links to recycling and reuse programs will be listed. Have a list of manufacturers and suppliers that you tend to use and ask that staff member to find out if any of them have take-back programs. For instance, the printer manufacturer may have an end-of-life program ...

Crafters - Making a Difference

-- Quote of the Day --  “[Volunteering] gives you a sense of purpose. … I think that most of us are trying to achieve [filling] the loss of community, the sense of belonging. …We have about 115 chapters and from there we have a lot of offshoot groups and companies that join us each year, not official chapters but they participate. …Don’t limit your donation to blankets – anything can be used to make a difference if it is from your heart. …We’ve had restaurants feed us, we’ve had Starbucks companies, bakeries, all kinds of companies that join to make our events possible. In one of our events we had 75 volunteers and we made 195 blankets, we had 40 sewing machines – people were on the ground cutting fabric, pinning things, handing them to the people on the sewing machines… It reinforces that what ever your company does it can fit in with something we do. …Do something for somebody else; make cards to take to a senior’s center, make calls to people you have...

Visit the literary journal at http://www.literaryescape.com/journal Is poetry too complicated for the average reader?  Is it too cryptic, scholarly?  If you ask a large group of average people what they like or don't like about poetry, you'll get a few different answers, but there is an overwhelmingly common category of responses. One of the main reasons that people say they aren't addicted to contemporary poetry is that they feel it is too cryptic. The language, they say, isn't tangible. Despite the fact that there are a great many contemporary poets out there writing and...

Of Blogging and Of Bullying

-- Quote of the Day --  Re: bullying :   “Whenever you hear someone being called names or being blamed for something you know it isn’t right, you know it has gone beyond teasing. If you hear that please step in, you need to stand up and say something. I believe that we are all equal and should be treated equal. And tell someone or many people so that you know people know about it and someone will step in. …sometimes even teachers won’t step in, to know things like that are happening drives me crazy. We all need to step in – it will continue to happen if you don’t step up and step in and say something about it.” ~ Josie Milner Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode that aired back on July 30 2013 … titled: Musicians Making aDifference  (*Click on the title to access the full discussion)  -- Media Event -- Please do join me over...
