Great news!

* Source: The Moss; Columbia Land Trust Foundation' s newsletter According to a recent e-newsletter published by  Columbia Land Trust Foundation , they along t he Wiancko Family have worked together for decades and have now successfully conserved  more than 800 acres of forestland in eastern Multnomah County! Located just outside the Portland-Vancouver urban area and about a mile from the Columbia River, Nestwood Forest is a rare example of nearly intact West Cascade forest.  This link will take you to a 3 min. video with fantastic imagery explaining the project a little bit more. https://youtu.be/AJ1HIaZ91Zw In collaboration with the Wianckos, the land trust's stewardship team is developing and implementing a long-term management plan for the site, which includes weed control, restoration where needed, and an inclusive approach to community engagement and public access. ~~~ Find the Brummet's Books @: https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B0845RLK1X Find Them Onl...

Kootenay Author Mobile Book Store

You never know where networking can lead. I reached out to  Paullette Francoeur   in September, after seeing her FaceBook post celebrating her new venture: The Kootenay Author Mobile Book Store .  How exciting to find that she was just as enthusiastic about networking, and after a single meeting we felt like fast friends. It turns out she spent her childhood in Creston and her family home was just a few blocks from our house. Paullette recently returned to the area with her family in tow. She has a great entrepreneurial spirit and I'm sure her new venture will be successful.  I am proud to announce that she will now showcasing 6 of our books in this mobile store. It is an honour to be set among dozens of other Kootenay-based authors !!!  Paullette invites you to watch for her banner (see image above) and stop by for a visit. She will be serving Sasquatch Coffee (a local coffee company that she partnered with),  and showcasing her first book, Lan...

Greek Dark Ages

Today we are joined by Martin Hahn who grew up in South-East Asia and moved to Europe where he delved into the fields of scientific research,  in organizational and industrial sociology,   radio journalism, and management consulting for the next 12 years. Whew!  After returning to  Asia he spent the next 24 years as a management consultant, university lecturer, corporate trainer, and international school teacher and administrator.  Currently he is working as a senior educator in an international school.   * Martin sure has experienced a great deal in his life so far!  Having been moving around so much and being in constant contact with people with differing cultural backgrounds and different nationalities, he has realized the importance of communication in general and intercultural communication in particular. When asked about his current passion he has this to say: "Peaceful coexistence is only possible if open communication channels are kept open all...

Recommended Resources

The  Recommended Resources  series has been published on this blog since we transferred it from the Brummet's Muse biweekly newsletter that ran for 6 years or so. When we closed it down, we decided that the resources were just too amazing not to continue. With this series, I have the pleasure of sharing some great resources which can include - positive impact organizations and events, citizen science projects and links to helpful articles. Feel free to check out their websites, and perhaps send them a note of appreciation for what they do. It would, of course, be fantastic if you see a way to network with them or get involved some how, or possibly share their information with your networks.
