Brummet's Conscious Blog

One fine Sunday morning Dave and I began to get curious about a particular design - a concentric square labyrinth pattern  - that seemed to be appearing around us. There are several variations of the design and the more we looked for it, the more we saw it around the home and yard.  So the two of us began searching online for all the reliable sources on the meaning of this specific symbol.  The concentric square labyrinth pattern, which is known as the Greek Key symbol today, has been used for centuries by many ancient cultures including the Asian, Aztec, Byzantine, Etruscan, Greek, Native American, and Roman peoples to decorate buildings, art, jewelry and clothing.  When the design appears as a straight line of interconnected Greek Keys, it known as a Meander (after an ancient river in what is now known as Turkey).  Meanders symbolized protection and health, and the unbroken path to infinity and reproduction - and therefore it was commonly used as a building ...

Today's featured guest is fellow Canadian author,  Chantal Bellehumeur  - who has 19 published books of various genres that you can find on  Amazon . Leaf Angel which was inspired by my struggle with depression and how I turn my mood around. It was meant to be fun and inspiring. ...the picture is me making a leaf angel. I think I may have invented that. (lol) " Leaf Angel I hid my sadness behind a fake smile raking coloured leaves into a neat pile. I didn't know why I wanted to cry On this nice fall day with a clear blue sky. The tears just randomly crept up on me but I thought it best not to set the...

The  Recommended Resources  series has been published on this blog since we transferred it from the  Brummet's Muse  biweekly newsletter that ran for 6 years or so. When we closed it down, we decided that sharing resources was just too awesome not to continue. With this series, Dave and I have the pleasure of sharing some great resources which can include - positive impact organizations and events, citizen science projects and links to helpful articles.  Feel free to check out their websites, and perhaps send them a note of appreciation for what they do. It would, of course, be fantastic if you see a way to network with them or get involved some how, or possibly share their information with your networks. I've often been asked by the media to describe our poetic journey and how Dave and I differ as poets.  https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B0845RLK1X A professional drummer/percussionist and educator, Dave has collaborated on many songs that later led to him writing lyrics of his own. Most of his poems in this book were in fact initially written as song lyrics, thus the presence of repeating choruses though out. Actually it was Dave who first sparked the idea for us to walk this path we tread today – he decided to take a writer’s course to learn what he might be able to do with his short stories that he has compiled over the years. Most of those stories have remained unpublished to this day due to other projects taking precedence, but Dave plans to release some in the near future. His poem “UFO Dream” is the theme of one of his soon-to-be novels that he has been working on. I began writing poetry as a teenager, which allowed me to express the issues and emotions from a broken home...
