Recommended Resources

The  Recommended Resources  series has been published on this blog since we transferred it from the  Brummet's Muse  biweekly newsletter that ran for 6 years or so. When we closed it down, we decided that sharing resources was just too awesome not to continue. With this series, Dave and I have the pleasure of sharing some great resources which can include - positive impact organizations and events, citizen science projects and links to helpful articles.  Feel free to check out their websites, and perhaps send them a note of appreciation for what they do. It would, of course, be fantastic if you see a way to network with them or get involved some how, or possibly share their information with your networks. Fundraising event, celebrating local heroes

Demetre Karountzos has done so much for this region for decades... & we are happy to donate  4 books for his fundraising event. From One Small Garden (cookbook), Rhythm & Rhyme (poetry) & the Trash Talk series (Books 1 & 2) - signed and with bookmarks inserted. :)  Did you know that Dave Brummet is the nephew of Tony Brummet, former environment minister. Cool, eh?  The Trash Talk series (part of this donation ) was inspired by a column we ran for about 6 years or so... because of this we earned acknowledgements & awards from many environmental organizations. We also got a recycled-glass award from the Recycling Council of BC , and a special letter from the premier of BC for being community heroes.  We certainly don't feel like heroes but it was really nice to get those awards.   There are heroes everywhere among us, once we start looking - and celebrating them  - ... all of a sudden we see them everywhere. It is kind of like g...

In the Media

Ben Nevares and I met recently around the end of September and after just a few discussions I was thrilled to be invited to be a guest on his podcast - Ben Thinking .  He chose a clever name for the podcast, hey?  We had a very comfortable, entertaining discussion about living sustainably, gardening and nutrition.   Please drop in and give it a listen... if you like it, please do share the link :)  https://benthinking.podbean.com/e/64-lillian-brummet-sustainable-living-brummet-s-conscious-blog ~~~ Find the Brummet's Books @: https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B0845RLK1X Find Them Online via: https://taplink.cc/brummet https://linktr.ee/LillianBrummet ~~~

Just For Writers

This monthly series began just over 2 years ago offering advice, tips, resources and marketing opportunities for our friends in the world of writing. Look for archived (or watch for new) posts around the middle of each month. -- Resources --  There are strong emotions to manage when we are self-employed. One of the triggers is having to prioritize what gets done, who gets your time, what you have to let go despite an emotional attachment to it & what you can set aside, for now.  Find out more in this 8.5 min video: https://youtu.be/novx5_9Dvtg  == Entrepreneurs often struggle with the act of prioritizing. It can be an emotional experience - setting aside something you are involved in or keyed up about, only to take on something new because it has taken precedence. Deadlines, opportunities, schedule delays all play a role in this difficult aspect of running a #business.  Drop in this 8 min video: https://youtu.be/xb6NM2oWbuo Visit Amazon to find this, and other bo...

Great Tips For Writing Reviews

This next question was submitted without a name attached, & I'm super grateful as it sparked an idea for a series of videos that we now plan on creating on this topic.  " You mention working as both a book and product #reviewer for a few publications and organizations; I know you used to do product #reviews on your blogs too... Do you still offer that service? ... &... Can you give us some tips on writing reviews.
