Fundraising event, celebrating local heroes

Demetre Karountzos has done so much for this region for decades... & we are happy to donate  4 books for his fundraising event. From One Small Garden (cookbook), Rhythm & Rhyme (poetry) & the Trash Talk series (Books 1 & 2) - signed and with bookmarks inserted. :)

Did you know that Dave Brummet is the nephew of Tony Brummet, former environment minister. Cool, eh?

The Trash Talk series (part of this donation ) was inspired by a column we ran for about 6 years or so... because of this we earned acknowledgements & awards from many environmental organizations. We also got a recycled-glass award from the Recycling Council of BC, and a special letter from the premier of BC for being community heroes.
We certainly don't feel like heroes but it was really nice to get those awards.

There are heroes everywhere among us, once we start looking - and celebrating them - ...all of a sudden we see them everywhere. It is kind of like getting a car, and then all of a sudden you see that make of car all over the place. Creston is absolutely brimming with caring, proactive people doing positive actions every single day.

Demetre  & Sue's Clothesline  and all the volunteers behind the projects they run, those behind the Senior Santa and Homeless projects and so many unsung heroes out there doing work every single day to make the world a little better, a little brighter, a little healthier. Thank you.

All the items in this fundraiser (below) are donated from local businesses and artists - and there are many, many items for this auction.

These will be displayed in Sue's Clothesline window, people can even phone in their bid & this silent auction event will last into the 2nd week of January, I believe.

Also check out the annual dinner he provides this time of year via the 2nd image below.
