-- Product Review --
Philip Reed of Fresh Produce Clothes and I first discussed this review project back on March 8th and by April 15th I had, delivered to my door, a pair of the Safari Slim Pant ($74 retail, US). It arrived in a flat plastic envelope and had recyclable low gloss paperboard labels – both are recyclable in our area, which is important to me. I was surprised at the light linen feel to material – great for cool fall, summer nights or spring day wear. The pull-on pants are incredibly comfortable to wear and sit below waistline, so one may wish to have a longer shirt to cover the belly. The Safari Slim Pants are manufactured from Stretch Broadcloth (97% cotton, 3% spandex) with draw cord and faux fly and front/back pockets.
The pants arrived a day or two before a day trip to a near-by city, and during the 3 hour drive (1.5 each way) the pants were comfortable to wear and loosened up a little bit as well. Unfortunately by the end of the day they had become quite wrinkled and seemed to attract the dogs' hair easily.
The tag recommends machine wash in cold, and tumble dry on normal or medium temperature. While these pants were made in China, the company is proud to share that it manufactures more than 80% of its garments and purchases over 90% of the fabrics within the US borders, ensuring high quality employment, while eliminating potential equal rights and sweat-shop issues. This also reduces the fossil fuel impact for transportation and shipping of their materials and manufactured clothing.

I just returned from a trip that involved a lot of car travel and these pants were an essential part of this. Comfortable, conforming, and nice looking too! Thanks again to Fresh Produce for allowing me the opportunity to experience this product.
