Poetry Time
This monthly series began more than a decade ago in an effort to encourage the joys of poetry. Here we celebrate other poet's work, as well as our own. If you would like to submit, simply visit the ABOUT page for guidelines & contact information.
EDUCATED LIES
I grieve for this world, as it fights its wars,
Where humans all slam their doors.
Here, people starve, knowing only pain.
While others, rich, stake out their claim.
Sad to see - such emptiness I feel.
This world cannot last forever;
Life’s just a one time deal.
Man, thinking ourselves unbeatable,
Tried to conquer with knowledge we lacked.
Now, so far destroyed, Earth takes her final stance,
While we pray for just one second chance.
We watch, knowing what our children will see.
Helpless, we cannot undo this awful disease.
So watch, my people, my educated men,
Just watch your ancestors’ victory descend.
While you sit at your desks and thunder your speeches,
Cry, for your child’s child will live to die,
Because of educated men - educated to lie.
** Let me clarify here that “men” refers to all society – all human kind.
This poem expresses the frustration we all feel over misinformation, false marketing, or being mislead.
Doom, gloom & hyper focus on what's wrong causes people to feel apathy, hopelessness a sense of "Why bother trying?"
I think behind this frustration expressed in this poem, there is this call-to-action re: becoming a hero, stepping up and doing something... anything.
To become proactive, to seek and promote positivity.
The 1st book in the Playing With Words series offers poetry that makes your heart shake - yet leaves you filled with inspiration and hope.
A real-life story of growing up in a traumatic environment and the healing process discovered through writing.
Takes readers on an epic journey of valiant survival told through vivid scenes poured from the heart ...with nothing held back.
