Poetry Time

Poetry Time

This monthly series began more than a decade ago in an effort to encourage the joys of poetry. Here we celebrate other poet's work, as well as our own. If you would like to submit, simply visit the ABOUT page for guidelines & contact information.

Ode to Beloved Fur Kids

I could not protect you

Not from the speeding car

Or the searing pain

Or the length of time

You were a charm

A note of beauty

Charging me with love

And sharing every day...

All three of you are gone

And though I have mourned

And though our home is full again

I yearn for you

Some days, the haunting loss

Nearly knocks me over

Knees buckle, chest aches

And the dreams...

Come again.
