Today is another great example of the accumulative power of small positive steps like making new connections and strengthening networks.  You see, back in 2021 we met Robin Fenway online who soon became a friendly business connection for a couple years. It was through this person that we learned of Heather Phillips, of the Magnificent Mommas blog, a short time later.  After getting to know each other better, Heather soon invited us to participate in her Book Of The Day section where she celebrates other authors. Reuse In The Garden = Natural Pest Control.. . part 2   * This is a 2 part article series...  Find part 1, published May 16th,  HERE   If you or anyone you know is replacing old Venetian style blinds (plastic or metal) make sure they know you are interested in them. The slats are perfect for cutting into little plant tags.   Using a pair of strong scissors, simply cut the slats to the desired length (I tend to cut them 6”) and taper one end to a point – that is the end you push into the ground or soil flat where you have started the seedlings. Similarly you can repurpose clean plastic tub containers (from cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.) for plant tags as well. Starting at the rim cut a straight line down to the bottom of the tub and then turning the scissors cut the bottom off. For instance, we might purchase an item in smaller amounts in the bulk section, or in larger family sizes and save money at the same time. By incorporating small changes like reduce waste like reusable, refillable refreshment cups and bottles we not only reduce waste, but also save a lot of money because we are no longer purchasing items at a higher cost, and we save money in related waste collection services as well. Reuse is a wonderful way to extend the budget – reusing containers, bags, boxes and so on, instead of purchasing those items new every time.
