Another fantastic book review...

Aren't our readers absolutely wonderful !? Find this book at:  https://www.amazon.ca/Down-Road-Collection-Dave-Brummet-ebook/dp/B0DYS8DVS9 His family memoir recently received this amazing review: “ I recently came across  Down the Road , and what immediately stood out was how vividly you bring four generations of family history to life.  From Maria’s courageous journey from a remote Romanian village to her arranged marriage, to the political and personal lives of her sons, and finally your own reflections on the legacy of these stories, the memoirs weave together personal triumph, historical events, and heartfelt memory in a way that feels deeply intimate and universal.  That blend of family memoir, historical storytelling, multigenerational narratives, and personal reflection… focused on family sagas, memoirs spanning generations,  World War  and  Great Depression  histories,  and books about personal and cultural heritage. ”  E....

Aren't our readers absolutely wonderful !? Find this book at:  https://www.amazon.ca/Down-Road-Collection-Dave-Brummet-ebook/dp/B0DYS8DVS9 His family memoir recently received this amazing review: “ Some books quietly punch history in the chest. Yours does it across four generations and then politely waits its turn. Down the Road is not just a memoir collection. It is living evidence.  Maria leaves a remote Romanian village alone to marry a man she had never met. A family shaped by WW1, WW2, the Great Depression, politics, migration, parenting, and the Okanagan Valley soil itself. These are not anecdotes. They are primary sources with heartbeats. What really got me was the structure. Multiple voices. Multiple eras. One family spine holding it together. That choice alone turns this from “a memoir” into a legacy artifact. And closing it with your own reflection, Dave, admitting how these written memories changed your understanding of your own family, was quietly devastatin...

Did you know that Dave is also an author ?  Find this book at:  https://www.amazon.ca/Down-Road-Collection-Dave-Brummet-ebook/dp/B0DYS8DVS9 His family memoir recently received this amazing review: “Lillian and Dave - your  Down the Road  feels like a time capsule cracked open with heartbeats still echoing inside.  Four generations, wars, migrations, love, grit you didn’t just write a memoir; you stitched a quilt out of history’s forgotten whispers.  The kind of book that smells like old photographs and coffee-stained letters. You two have done it all from talk radio to blogging to drumming up (literally) inspiration and somehow your story still deserves louder applause.”  ~ M. Book Review

BOOK REVIEW - Windwalker -   By Donna Sundblad   The first try at reading this book left me feeling a bit confused. I found myself skipping ahead, hoping that the story line would become clear. Realizing I may be tired or affected by some pain medication I had taken, I decided to set it aside and come back to it another time. The thing is, the cover design is simply fantastic; it had me intrigued as soon as I saw it. I also recently read another book by this author that I got absolutely lost in, and so I really did have incentive to understand and fully enjoy this book. I had some time the following day to drop into Amazon to browse the book description and then read the book's intro page again to get some clarity before I gave it another try.  Upon the next reading, I was able to let the book take me on the journey. The author certainly knows how to capture the reader. The first few paragraphs were particularly well written, absorbing and teasing the reader into th...

book review

When a reader leaves a review, or rating, for a book it validates the writer's efforts in spending years behind the scenes making that book available. It feeds the writer when times are tough and the inner voices break in telling us we are nothing.  Thank you readers for taking the time to leave a review :)  Poetic Wanderings Poetic Wanderings is a deeply introspective collection that guides readers on a reflective journey through memory, nature, and time. With themes of childhood nostalgia, love, loss, and identity, Brummet’s poetry captures life’s fleeting beauty and encourages personal reflection. Curated by Dave and Lillian Brummet, the collection explores how we navigate the past, hold onto memories, and find meaning in the present. From the outset, Brummet's vivid imagery evokes life's simple pleasures—often overlooked in the hustle of daily life. In the opening lines, "To roam meadows of memory, so far away. So long ago." , he sets the tone for a journey i...

Book Review I love the cover design for  Beyond The Fifth Gate ( by Donna Sundblad )! T ypically, book cover designers are not looking to tell the story, but rather stop readers from scrolling long enough to check out the book. This book cover design does both, hinting at the storyline without revealing hardly a thing. I like how the title is spaced between the planets to imply travel. I personally feel the book cover design for Beyond The Fifth Gate is exceptional.  Instantly after finishing Beyond The Fifth Gate - I kept saying: " What a fantastic read that was! "  I had to take several days to digest it a bit before writing my review article for this project. In that time, I've spoken enthusiastically to my husband about it and now he wants to read it too.  The author provides readers with an incredibly unique and deeply entertaining ride... I didn't find myself skipping ahead out of boredom (which I often do). In between reading sessions I found myself often thi...

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0CWT2GD3C Prepper's Water Survival Checklist offers a comprehensive overview answering frequently asked questions about collecting, reusing, conserving and storing water during an emergency.  Personally I found the information about collecting water from fog quite interesting. It was very nice to see the author also touched on grey water - we had a grey water system on one of our rural properties that diverted water from sinks and showers to feed the trees surrounding the home... we never did have to water those trees for the 2.5 years we lived there.  Since then I've often wondered why building regulators don't encourage grey water systems for urban yards. This should prove to be a useful guide to anyone concerned with water during a crisis. ~ Reviewer: Lillian Brummet ~~~     Follow us & find our Books:   on Amazon Visit:   Drum It With Brummet Blog Subscribe:   Brummet Media YouTube Channel   ~~~

book review

The Flying Scotsman Sings - book review Two lovers who share a passion for music, but with differing schedules, travelling and careers - will their love survive? It has been quite a while since I have written a book review article. There was a time when I was paid to write reviews and was assigned 300-600 books per year to analyze and review - sometimes write articles, sometimes writing blurbs, sometimes giving reader feedback. Back then I was reading so much that I ended up burning out after 5-6 years. I took a very long break, did a few reviews and took a very long break again. I no longer accept book review queries, however I'm happy to share this book review with our readers today... Upon first impression I had a strong feeling that I was about to delve into a fantastic read. As a writer, I was impressed at the enviable writing skills displayed in the first two pages where the author eloquently set the scene, described the era and introduced the main character. Here, the autho...

A huge hug goes out to Darcia Helle who posted a review for our green living series,  Trash Talk - It's Easy To Be Green .    Today I'd like to share with you her review of that book :   5 out of 5 stars  Her review titled:  Easy & Helpful Guide For All,  was posted on  Amazon.co m on March 21, 2023 " Trash Talk takes us through the 4 Rs of sustaining our planet - Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. It starts off by sharing some facts, such as the mere act of recycling can reduce the waste you personally contribute to landfills by up to 30%. Then we're given helpful and often fun ways we can cut down on our waste and reuse or recycle those things we're tempted to toss in the trash. The issues covered here are things everyone should be thinking about. We only have this one planet, and we're all borrowing it from our children. It's about time we started taking better care of their legacy. *** Thank you Darcia for sharing this review of...

A huge hug goes out to Elizabeth Gagnon  who posted a review for our cookbook,  From One Small Garden - Over 300 Delicious, Nutritious Recipes . ** She docked it one point because she preferrs pictures, but we felt it was more important to fill the book with content and keep the price of the cookbook down by excluding pictures out of the printing costs. Her opinion matters, and in fact our upcoming trilogy will be including pictures :) Interestingly, Elizabeth and I began networking in January '23, and I was invited to be a guest on her TEA Time podcast that summer. I hope to have her as a guest on this blog to talk about her entrepreneur and podcast experiences in the near future. It was a very nice to hear from her this fall when she created a post of Facebook sharing a picture of her new purchase: our cookbook! Today I'd like to share with you her review of that book :   4.0 out of 5 stars  Her review titled  No Pictures  was posted on  Amazon.ca ...

Very cool to find out that David Medansky gave our Purple Snowflake Marketing book a 5 star rating & this fine book review:  "A comprehensive well-written book that provides informative, insightful, and useful information that authors can easily implement to promote and market their book.
