A Different Perspective In life, in business, in relationships - we hear our inside-voice tell us that we did not do enough, didn't react in a positive way; we see those mistakes over and over again in our mind's-eye. We are told that all that stumbling along that we did was really just growing pains - that we wouldn't be the person today without them. Our logical mind easily acknowledges that mistakes make us more aware, and that makes us better people. All that rings true but forgiving ourselves, like letting go of the guilt, not repeatedly reminding one's self of them. That is another issue - isn't it. It is worse still, if we feel that we failed at something. But often, our efforts were not in vain at all.  Here's a quote that may help us all remember to view our mistakes from a different perspective:  " F. A. I. L. means: First Attempt in Learning. -- Positive News --  Did you know...?  - That illiteracy went from 50% of the world population down to 25% of the people on this earth. 25% of us cannot read - however we have greatly increased the number of people who can in just a few decades! - That the entirety of all of human knowledge ,from the beginning of our time to this moment, is now doubled every 18 months ?  - That the world's "extreme poverty" (those that live on a dollar a day or less) was around 36% in 1990. As of 2005, that number was reduced to just 13% - a reduction of 23% . -- Positive News --  I was listening to an inspiring talk about Al Gore’s optimism for our future. In this talk he enthusiastically shouts: “ We will beat this thing !” I was excited to learn these stats: Best projections in 2000, 16 years ago, was that wind energy would reach 30 GW by 2010, yet by 2015 that number was exceeded by a factor of 14.5 times. We see an exponential upward curve in wind installations, downward curve in costs. Energy storage technology advancements are increasing, while costs are decreasing. Countries like Germany and Scotland are leading the way in solar energy production, while China is restructuring itself for the upcoming population explosion by building high-tech, leading edge eco-communities. The best projections 14 years ago for solar was 1 GW per year by 2010, we are track to beat that by 68 times this year.
