-- Recommended Resources --  Tis the season... for inspiring thoughts on gardening, landscaping and youth/senior/volunteer programs that green up communities. In fact, our seed orders are coming in the mail box and while we had a freak storm pass through where blizzard winds and snow packed against the windows, I sat infatuated by seed packets and catalogue descriptions spread out on the floor before me.  http://www.ted.com/talks/ann_cooper_talks_school_lunches This speaker, Ann Cooper, shares some fantastic statistics (American) on what schools are offering for lunch, how that is contributing to both academic and health issues in our young citizens, and some great examples of what innovative schools are doing about it. I thought this group might be interested in this for several reasons -getting local youth tours happening for local growers/producers/manufacturers -getting youth volunteer (hands on learning) opportunities for classes, home schoolers,...

-- Quote of the Day -- “I felt like a pariah, my children were suffering… and I felt very alone. …Healing doesn’t just take over night – it isn’t easy to shed the tainted environment you’ve come from. …The more broken you are the more whole you have a chance to become.   …It is like the tight rope walker, they have to keep their eye on their goal and not take their eyes off it – the dangerous part is when they make the turn around …and not pay somebody else’s bills for what happened because you do waste the present. …None of us will ever be perfect but we can turn flaws into flowers. We all have flaws and wounds and deficiencies and they are hard to admit – but our imperfections are apart of us …life is not about being flawless but about overcoming.” ~ Dale Stanten Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode that aired back on … titled: Rising AboveCircumstances   (*Click ...

-- Quote of the Day -- “Leah’s family come from a very small town and they are very private people, and I talked to some of them and they love the book and they love the pictures but some of them said ‘listen we are a little uncomfortable that you decided to disclose so much about your lives’… but Leah wanted to do this – and we thought the only way that this would work is to be totally open, and that can be a little uncomfortable for some people.  What I have done is I have sent them some of the responses I have received on how this book is helping people and I think they can then appreciate it even though some of it is a little difficult to read.” ~ Nick Trujillo Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode that aired back on Feb. 26, 2013… titled: Leaving a Legacy & Healing Grief Through Writing  (*Click on the title to access the full discussion) -- Brummet's I...

You really need to have your integrity intact. …This gives you the opportunity to notice – whenever you notice something, don’t blame yourself just say ‘good notice’, without judging or making wrong.” Johanna Mosca Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode that aired back on Nov 1, 2012… titled: Feel Calm and ContentToday  (*Click on the title to access the full discussion) -- Brummet's In the Media --  Join me live today at noon pacific, 1 p...

What are you thankful for?

Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian readers :)   What are you thankful for today? -- Quote of the Day -- “One of the things I started seeing (upon doing acts of kindness) was that it certainly moved me through the grief and I started to feel happier in life. Science shows that when you give you get endorphins and a bit of a high so there are physical benefits as well. …There are so many things that you get back and that you can learn when volunteering - skills and who you meet. …I think because of the media we are just so bombarded by all the things that are wrong in the world, but if you turn off the news - you’ll notice all the good things that are going on. …Really it is just a habit that you are changing and you are starting to make such a difference.” Linda Cohen Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode titled: Healing Through Acts ofKindness   (*Click on...
