A Little YouTube

A Little YouTube Tony M. submitted the following question our way:   "When people are in abused situations they often feel guilt, and they hold on that guilt and feel like they will be judged... any advice for them?" "Their inner judge, inner critic, or inner saboteur keeps them in that cycle and they willingly allow that to happen because it takes a huge amount of courage to challenge those inner belief systems and face the healing journey. " Find the full 3 min video responding to this submitted question here: https://youtu.be/7tmq6iRtzB4

getting quiet

Getting Quiet This is the 5th installment of a small advice series for the blog that will focus on tips to bring quiet and calm to daily life...  If you haven't started this "getting quiet" practice yet, please visit the first post and follow each tip for 10 days prior to adding the next tip.  We began with the awareness of thought and emotion, the awakening to seeing our own reactions to moment-to-moment daily life and then learning to be a witness to these things instead of reliving them. We learned to question our responses to daily life and we learned that our brain is currently being retrained.   Continue practicing these tasks, daily if you can - but during the day start looking around your daily activities and really see the products you are coming in contact with. We are creatures that absorb virtually everything... our skin is an organ and absorbs all the creams and fragrances, our lungs soak up everything that is in the air, even our ey...

getting quiet

Getting Quiet This is the 4th installment of a small advice series for the blog that will focus on tips to bring quiet and calm to daily life...  The first few posts gave tips for training the mind and explained how the main keys are: repetition - and small successes - that is why we are doing these tasks every day and in small doses. Realize that your mind, your brain is different from you – visualize the brain as a machine and yourself as the operator of the machine. Recognize that much of daily life is habit, simply learned reactions – and the operator has the opportunity to reprogram th...

getting quiet

Getting Quiet This is the 3rd installment of a small advice series for the blog that will focus on tips to bring quiet and calm to daily life...  In the first Getting Quiet post we asked you to start with a very simple task... be aware of moment to moment interactions, thoughtfully consider those moments that stand out for you each day and your reaction to those moments. And the second task was to add a list of 5 unique  things you really feel grateful for upon waking up in the morning and again another list of 5 things you are grateful for in the evening.  The trick to training the mind is repetition - and small successes - that is why we are doing these tasks every day and in small doses. So with becoming more aware about our daily life, comes the heightened awareness of our emotional reactions. Sometimes, that can feel a bit disturbing. We might not like what we see. We might relive those emotions we felt earlier. We might not know what to do with i...

Getting Quiet

Getting Quiet A new series of posts we are starting up on the blog that will focus on tips to bring quiet and calm to daily life... We hope you enjoy the 2nd post in this advice series, which we hope to publish periodically, whenever the blog schedule allows.  In the first Getting Quiet post we asked you to start with a very simple task... be aware of moment to moment interactions, thoughtfully consider those moments that stand out for you each day and your reaction to those moments. The task of awareness will continue throughout your journey, and for the first while it is suggested that one continue that same awareness task each night, spending 5 to 15 minutes with mindful thought.  Now add this : List at least 5 different things you really feel grateful for upon waking up in the morning and again another list of 5 things you are grateful for in the evening. This is a great habit for parents to get into as well – telling their children positi...

Are you or your kids feeling the weight of the world?

The Weight of the World Today’s youth seem to be going through a lot of conflicting emotions. With the influence of the media, they feel angry and want to blame others. In dark emotional moments they feel a sense of hopelessness, like nothing they do could matter. At the same time, today's energetic youth are more active, inspired, educated and hopeful than any other generation. Yet there is the real danger of becoming so busy with too many opportunities that they risk burnout.  People of all ages seem to be feeling the weight of the world... and I want to address this issue today. First, let me clarify that – yes, there is a huge amount of work left for us to attend to in order to create a sustainable planet. However: Let us remember the world my parents’ inherited. When they were teenagers in the 60’s, their parents were hardened, afraid and followed the rules… they didn’t rock the boat much, having just come out of a war and endured a sever economic...
