Recommended Resource

Recommended Resource  Host Carol Hanson has a very interesting discussion with Thrift Plus on her Awesome Women Spotlight , covering how thrift stores are addressing the pile of used clothing being sent to landfills or incinerators.   I remember when my mom would get plus-sized clothing from the thrift stores and use the material to make new clothes, aprons, rugs, blankets or whatever she needed. She, too, used her quilting craft for a family legacy.  She made a quilt for my brother to celebrate his travels and stories he shared with her. She did one for a few of her grandkids too, before she became too ill (she passed in 2010).  There's an amazing thrift store locally who give household and clothing items to anyone in dire straits, such as those running from an unsafe home or their house burned down or some other disaster. The Trinity Thrift Store raise funds for the church and it's projects such as the free lunch they provide once a week, to support se...

Media Appearance

Media Appearance ...What Fun !!  **Ann invites #authors to submit queries to appear on her podcast !!  I just love this picture used for the promo of this podcast author interview with myself and host, Ann Harrison. The image makes me smile every time I see it  - it is so goofy. Dave and I were brimming with laughter while taking promo bio shots and this one was too funny. I realize it doesn't exactly do me favours, that picture, but hey, we were bursting with laughter. haha  I think you will really enjoy the A nn Writes’ Inspirational Journeys:- Stories That Matter #podcast. I so enjoyed this #interview - upon listening to the podcast today I found myself laughing and smiling and really enjoying the conversation a second time.  https://anchor.fm/inspirational-journeys/episodes/Lillian-Brummet-interview-e131sb7 She was kind enough to put a really nice announcement and further information on her blog (  A nn Writes’ Inspiration )  as well:   http...

Business & Writing Advice

-- Quote of the Day --    “Critics are by no means the end of the law. Do not think all is over with you because your articles are rejected. It may be that the editor has his drawer full, or that he does not know enough to appreciate you, or you have not gained a reputation or that he is not in a mood to be pleased.”  ~ Lavina Goodell -- Brummet's In the Media -- Join me over at Ignite Your Productivity podcast radio show hosted by Cathy Sexton for a discussion offering tips on staying organized and the importance of follow up activities in the office. Of Plastic and Business

-- Note: -- I am taking the day off from hosting the radio show, I need some time to just relax today. -- Positive News --  I'm a big fan of bringing beverages with me whenever I leave the house - typically water in a stainless steel reusable bottle, but I've a half a cupboard filled with other types of bottles that I reuse regularly including a few old juice bottles. We also have a couple old water bottles in the back of the Jeep that I keep filled with purified water for either the dogs or a vehicle emergency. I've taken water, juice, ice tea and warm drinks in the winter on trips, hike, walking the dogs or even to the garden. I take them when we go shopping or when I have an appointment in town. This way I am less likely to purchase refreshments, saving money and reducing the amount of waste I produce.  Still, despite these efforts, occasionally we'll have a pop bottle or someone visits and leaves a bottle, or we'll pick litter up and in...

writing

-- Quote of the Day -- “… If I don’t write, things just don’t feel right. I love being immersed in words, I’ve always had an overactive imagination and find myself asking “what if…?”. Which can get me in trouble sometimes, I’ll send stuff to my agent and she’ll say ‘No-no, no’. (she giggles). …When I was first starting out as a writer the people around me were not very understanding. …It can be very difficult when you have to explain that you can’t bake 250 cupcakes for the PTA and you are in the middle of a book. …And I still get that after all this time - from family members even: ‘Well Michael’s home all day, sitting around doing nothing’ (she laughs). Re: Finding a balance: It is always a daily struggle for me; the meals suddenly become simple, and my hair is lucky to get combed and I may not shop for groceries as much as I should. ” ~ Michael West – Feb 3, 2009 This quote of the day was taken from an interview with Michael West on the Conscious Discussions talk radio show, Feb 3 ...
