chatter; gardens

Chatter ....  Well - for some reason I cannot edit the posts from Nov 2 through to mid-January. I'm not sure why, but this platform here changed the font and font size on those posts. I did take the time consuming task of going back to edit each post... and made it worse somehow. lol  I wanted to let you all know that I have tried and I do apologize for the weird problem. I have connected to Google to ask them about this but, well you know how that goes. Wait. Wait some more. Try to connect again. Wait. lol Have you started to order seeds for your gardening areas yet? Now is the time to do so. In fact, those of you who want to try their hands at flower baskets - you'll want to have started those seeds now. Most other seeds are not planted in pots under lights until 2-8 weeks prior to the last expected frost in your area. For us, that is just before or around the last weekend in May. Just a few hours to the west of us though we saw frosts as late as June 1st. Technic...

Monday, here

Monday Arrived!  Wow -  Did Monday roll around quickly or what? lol  Well, my holiday from the office is over. It was a productive holiday - we did a lot of social things, took care of some of the items nagging at us from the ongoing list such as detailing the vehicle, shampooing the basement carpets... all that kind of thing, and of course visiting and feasting with family and friends. I was blessed with warm, kind notes via Facebook messaging, text and email for my 46th birthday... and was surprised with a couple bouquets of flowers, a couple different kinds of chocolates, then taken out for lunch and supper... it was really a special time and I was so touched by everyone's love this year. Thank you all. Monday is my cleaning day... so guess what I am doing? lol For those of you with a home office you might already try to balance home life and house chores with your business efforts. It is not easy to focus on one or the other - when I'm out in the yard I'm thi...

2016

Well happy new year to all our readers - I do hope you all had a relaxing, warm, rejuvenating and  "green" holiday season. :) First let me note... I just came back to manage the blog (I schedule weeks and sometimes months in advance) and realized that from Nov. 2nd on the font got real small all of a sudden and the notice I arranged to go up on Jan. 1st was in draft format. Huh. Not sure if it was a technical glitch or my mental glitch... either way I apologize and am endeavouring to repair the font size now. So... the notice was supposed to let you all know that I was taking a few days off from the blog due to the holidays, family, etc. Which, I guess, you know that already. ha ha How was your 2015? Ours involved quite a few challenges, but an equal if not greater amount of personal achievements and forward movement on projects. So - overall, a good year. Sadly we are now dealing with an aging family member who is nearing the end of life. With that comes a lot of people...

bee keeping

Bee Collective  * Submitted by Dawn Davis who tells us that there are many great ways that social enterprises and charities truly benefit their local area, including all sorts of unusual methods! Find out more here: http://www.meandmycommunity.co.uk Did you know that honey is becoming more popular than ever, with the demand at an all-time high? Many people are trying to source locally produced honey, as there are many good health benefits that it brings. Therefore, a social enterprise has been developed in London, called the Bee Collective , which has been set up to support the honey production. Bee Collective works directly with beekeepers in the London area, helping them with their beehives through all the processes of honey. Their main aim is to help these beekeepers to help sustain the practice. Additionally, the social enterprise also works to process and market the honey, selling the produce at a fair, guaranteed price for the beekeepers. ...
