What was that that just fluttered by?

Planting for positive change is a real passion of ours.  Not only can we grow food that is harvested at it's peak nutritional level, with amazing flavour, and... for free - but we also reduce the environmental impact of our menu plan.  Add some flowering annuals, trees, shrubs and a wildflower or two - This will attract more pollinators who will ensure that you get a great harvest.  These plants provide food, shelter and habitat for a number of very important and beautiful creatures.  As you expand the plantings and potted plants a great number of bees of all shapes and sizes will start appearing.  What was that that just fluttered by? O how beautiful!  Witness the butterflies, sphynx moths, evening moths and tiny birds that are now dropping into your yard for a welcome respite.  Sound like an amazing experience? Well it is... and we have done it here on our property.  It wasn't long before my interest renewed in itentifying them, learning their na...

Book Review !!

A huge hug goes out to Kiki W who posted a review for one of our poetry books, Towards Understanding, over at Amazon.ca (Canada) where she gave the book a 5 out of 5 star rating !    "When I was a kid and we had to read or write poetry in school, it did not resonate with me. Later as a secretively moody teen, I would write sappy or pretentious poetry to try to express my adolescent thoughts and feelings.  It takes great bravery to bare one’s soul to the general public.  When I came across Lillian’s book, at first I didn’t quite get the title, but once I started reading, I could see how any artistic expression, be it poetry or prose or music or drawing or painting, can be a great tool for self therapy for meditating on and sorting out one’s thoughts and feelings.  ... just like in class when the teacher encourages shy students to voice their questions, because other students likely have the same question, this kind of very personal writing could also help other y...

A Little YouTube

..."You know you do"... lol  Authority Magazine once asked:  "Can you share the most interesting story that occurred to you in the course of your career? " We had some great responses from that discussion and so I thought it would be nice to do a video looking back at the vast changes that the world of writing was undergone since 1999. https://youtu.be/vleyUsFniH8 ~~~     Follow & Find Books:   on Amazon Visit:   Drum It With Brummet Blog Subscribe:   Brummet Media YouTube Channel   ~~~

quote of the day

" I remember a hundred lovely lakes,   and recall the fragrant breath of pine  and fir and cedar and poplar trees.  The trail has strung upon it,  as upon a thread of silk,  opalescent dawns  and saffron sunsets. Recommended Resources

The  Recommended Resources  series has been published on this blog since we transferred it from the  Brummet's Muse  biweekly newsletter that ran for 6 years or so. When we closed it down, we decided that sharing resources was just too awesome not to continue. With this series, Dave and I have the pleasure of sharing some great resources which can include - positive impact organizations and events, citizen science projects and links to helpful articles.  Feel free to check out their websites, and perhaps send them a note of appreciation for what they do. It would, of course, be fantastic if you see a way to network with them or get involved some how, or possibly share their information with your networks.  Peace Area Riding For The Disabled Society uses equine therapy to help people feel physically healthy and mentally calm. www.pards.ca   People's Animal Welfare Society is a volunteer run organization that assists animals in need, providing a free-r...
