Recycling News, Attaining Goals

-- Quote of the Day --

" Life is not easy for any of us.
But what of that?
We must have perseverance and,
Above All, Confidence in ourselves.
We must believe that we are gifted
For something,
And that this thing, at whatever cost
Must be attained"

~ Marie Curie

As many of you are already aware, I have made a promise to myself (and others) to take 3 full days out of the office - which is important when you work from a home office, one that never goes away. So it is that time again where I'll be shutting the door to the office and not opening it again until Monday morning - the 12th of July. As such I've taken the liberty today to create a larger post, hoping that you will find lots of things to peak your interest here while I'm out of the office for the next few days. ...I would like to encourage all our blog readers to visit the links available on the sidebars located on this blog.

I learned recently of a wonderful program that involves utilizing used ink cartridges recycling programs to raise funds for environmental conservation. Apparently six different "Japanese companies that sell inkjet printers, including Canon Marketing Japan Inc. and Epson Sales Japan Corp., started contributing funds to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on April 1, 2010. This is one of a number of joint initiatives carried out by the companies to collect and recycle used home printer ink cartridges under the framework of the Ink Cartridge Homecoming Project, and is the first donation by Japanese private firms to work for environmental conservation in Asia and the Pacific regions through UNEP." - Another fantastic example of how one little action, like recycling an ink cartridge, can have such a profound impact on the planet.

-- Buy Poetry For Your Significant Other Month --

As promised, this blog will be celebrating Buy Poetry For Your Significant Other Month (July) by sharing poetry from published writers. Submission guidelines can be found on the July 3rd posting on this blog. (scroll down to find previous posts).

Today we have as our special guest: Stephen Mead - a published artist, writer, and maker of short collage- films living in NY.  His latest release is: Our Book of Common Faith, an exploration of world cultures and religions in hopes of finding what bonds humanity as opposed to divides.

 Mustard Seed

Faith in the hand & the hand

Grasps planting, plucking stems

Straight from air…

Leaves, leaves to arrange,

The rootlessness hovering,

Alive that green fire

With topaz in the center,

That yellow bead gleaming…

Harvest potential,

Harvest, the promise of…

On such we bank our dreams &

From this life does continue

To spill fields before the blue,

Alive horizons.
