Writing & Book Promotion

-- Quote of the Day -- " Like stones, words are laborious and unforgiving,     and the fitting of them together, like the fitting of         stones, demands great patience and strength              of purpose and particular skill ."       ~ Edmund Morrison -- Brummets in the Media -- I am excited to be invited to appear as a featured guest on the Rhymes, Views and News Talk Radio show today at 5 PM (Eastern) / 2 PM (Pacific) - where I will be speaking with the host,  DuEwa Frazier, about book marketing. Secret to Long Relationships

-- Quote of the Day -- " A person who wears armor Is his armor's slave . " ~ Anonymous   -- What's the secret to a long lasting relationship? -- Dave and I have been together for just over 20 years and are still going strong, despite many life obstacles from physical injuries to work-related or financially-related stress and traumatic grief.  Many people are impressed by the number of years we've been together, but more are impressed by the fact that Dave and I also work together. All this time we've shared one office, one vehicle and up until this last year - we shared one computer. Being writers and working different schedules, this often felt like we were performing a juggling act.  There are several secrets that I learned from my mother's mishaps in relationships. She used to remind us to " Start how you mean to continue ." - this was meant to include most areas of our lives from money and balancing chores to relationships. ...

Donations via Organization

-- Quote of the Day -- “ Getting rid of clutter really isn’t about trying to achieve some sort of magazine-cover perfection, but about freeing up time for priorities. …It is functional living – not perfect living. …Getting rid of clutter is a process… and it can sometimes be hard for people to cut down their clutter… we get emotionally attached to our stuff. …Creating a sustainable community is win-win for everybody involved; when we reduce our excess, we help other people. As well, less needs to be produced and there is less waste. We gain by having greater peace of mind and getting rid of clutter opens our lives up to new hobbies, new relationships .”   ~  Barbara Tako ~ Today's quote came from the Living Clutter-free interview on the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio Show that aired back on Aug 31 this year - You can access the full interview via the hyper-linked show title above.    -- Chatter -- Today finds me inundated with a heavy list of to...

Interviews today!!

-- Quote of the Day -- RE:  Saving Race Horses   “We give them a transition between that athletic lifestyle and learn how to be a horse again – preparing them for the next phase. … I found it very surprising that there was a need for something like what we provide. And once I realized that I think I was just humbled that I could make a difference… For me, these horses are just so inspiring – I feel like they have brought out the best in me. I feel that they give me so much more than I can give them.” ~  Lynn Reardon ~ Aug 24 2010  Today's quote originates from the Saving Racehorses interview that aired back on Aug 24th this year on the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio show. Youth - Making a Difference

Proactive, Positive Living

-- Quote of the Day -- “ Before we get to the edge of the waterfall we need to stop and think about how we need to live… We have all these debates about whether there is global warming and so we don’t pass legislation. ...Russia had a huge heat wave and lost most of their grain harvest, and so they are exporting zero now. And then you get a country like Egypt who is their biggest customer, and they give bread to their poor – last year they couldn’t give out bread so they had rioting. …One might say 'well that might happen there, but not where [countries] are more developed.' But remember the truck strike in London when in just 4 days the grocery stores ran out of food – that strike got settled pretty quickly.   …Then comes the day you go to the market and there is no fish - well we can’t wait for that day .”     ~ Stuart Rose ~ Aug 17 2010 Today's quote comes from an interview with Stuart Rose who dropped in to the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio show to talk ...

Resources, Laughter & Inspiring Eco-news

-- Quote of the Day --  " Any day is beautiful, When it has been touched By laughter. " ~ Author Unknown I started out pretty awful this morning... not feeling 100% and waking up feeling more tired than when I went to bed, I started the early morning chores - making lunches, doing dishes, taking care of the dogs, and early office work. During these early morning chores it seemed everything I touched hit the ground, at least once. I must have given myself a half-dozen bonks from not watching where I was going or hitting my hand on a partially opened kitchen drawer... *sigh* - But as today's quote states, I found some laughter and it washed all the misery away. My best-loved fur-kids (the dogs) are a sure fire way to inspire a smile and a laugh or two... Especially Skyla - who is such a goof! ...thank goodness for the loving animals in our lives. :) -- Lillian's Referral Corner -- Here are some recommended resources for you to check out when you have some tim...

Doing More with What We Have

-- Quote of the Day -- “ Animals have a tremendous healing power – they don’t judge, they don’t care what you look like. …Animals have time to just be, and this is incredibly appealing when your mind is filled with chaos. They taught me how to get quiet. …When you have been abused, trust is a real issue – you really don’t trust humans. With animals it is different story - the worst they can do is bite or scratch a bit; they are not going to create searing trauma in me. {So in therapy} one can start with trusting animals and eventually transfer that over to humans .”    ~ Kelly Meister ~ Aug 19 2010 Today's quote originates from the Nurturing Nature & Wildlife Woes interview that aired back on Aug 19, 2010 on the Conscious Discussions talk radio show. Youth, Literacy & Being Green

-- Quote of the Day -- “ …I have always been attracted to working with young people – they have great ideas, they are an incredible resource, they have tremendous energy and they are also conflicted. I have been working with teens using theater and poetry… and in many cases film making, to teach the principles of conflict resolution and how to get along with each other. We support and inspire each other …Some of these teens are doing amazing things – In Argentina there is a train that separates two communities, acting as a physical barrier. So {a 17-year-old teen} began to renovate the train cars… and now the communities share the train as a community center, and the doors are open on either side. …Another teen in Africa worked to get people to think more about recycling – {Others} are working to educate women and adults, {including} providing sanitary napkins, so that young girls can go to school .” ~ Robert Galinsky   The quote of the day originates from a Conscious ...

Eradicating Poverty

-- Quote of the Day -- " Wherever men and women are condemned to live in extreme poverty, human rights are violated. To come together to ensure that these rights be respected is our solemn duty " ~ Joseph Wresinki (1917-1988, founder of ATD Fourth World    -- Conscious Living Events -- The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty has been observed annually on Oct 17 since 1993 - even though the day was officially set aside in 1992 by the UN and the first day was actually celebrated back in 1987 in France. This day was created to promote " people's awareness of the need to eradicate poverty and destitution worldwide, particularly in developing countries. ", according to timeanddate.com. We are asked to consider supporting various non-government organizations and community charities that help eradicate poverty, or offer relief in the form of food and shelter. We can also sign petitions that might be going around today - or write officials asking f...
