In addition, everyone has a level of doubt about his or her work at times. We depreciate ourselves during our creative process; yes, we all go through this sporadically while we are developi...

Office in the Garden ??

Your Office In The Garden * Today's article was written by Dwijen Borah who invites you to learn more about building sheds, garden plans and designs via his site: http://www.shedplansdesigns.net . When you think of a home office, does a garden office come to mind? Well, it's possible and even fun to build your own workspace while enjoying your garden at the same time. You can start by purchasing a sturdy and safe shed and then decorating and organizing it to your liking. You can create an open shed without doors or a closed door shed that has windows so you can look outside your window at the garden while you work. Look through interior design magazines or on home decor magazines to get ideas for your shed for the home office. When constructing your cozy office for the garden, you should use wood flooring because it not only looks inviting and rustic, but it is also environmentally friendly. There are all kinds of wood flooring and wood finishes to...

Of Poetry !

-- Quote of the Day --  " I held a moment in my hand, brilliant as a star,  fragile as a flower, a tiny sliver of one hour.  I dripped it carelessly,  Ah! I didn't know,  I held opportunity. " ~ Hazel Lee -- Poetry --   * These two poems are both excerpted from Rhythm & Rhyme , a collection of my husband and my own poetry. These were both written by me and have a similar style - I thought they'd fit together here today nicely... Double-locked Vaults I felt myself Thinking and feeling Thoughts of doors Long closed And sealed by  Double-locked vaults. Emotional vertigo Swayed my mind Yet once adjusted A side of myself Was revealed ...and I... Understood.   * Written in the summer of '08 about the journey of healing from old wounds, coming to a place of peace with the past and discovering I had grown in the process.  Al...

Poetry

-- Quote of the Day --  “You can do what you want to do, accomplish what you want to accomplish, attain any reasonable objective you may have in mind – not all of a sudden, perhaps not in one swift and sweeping act of achievement but you can do it gradually day by day and play by play, if you want to do it, if you work to do it, over a sufficiently long period of time.”      ~ William Holler   -- Poetry --  It has been a while since I have shared some of my published poetry... here is some samples taken from my 1st book of poetry: Towards Understanding   IN OUR MIDST How can we justify this life? With every breath that we take Can we influence this hard world Is there power in the hands Of This boy or this girl There are heroes in our midst And you know that they exist They exist in you and I We are the heroes in our midst How can we waste awa...

Referral Corner

-- Quote of the Day --  “I had one of my students draw me some dolls and I gave each of them a name and started assigning them with affirmations – and that was 10 years ago. And I had another friend who makes dolls and she started to make them into dolls, my goal now is to get each girl to design her own doll and give it a name that reflects her own thoughts or personality. …So girls who leave the program they will be given self esteem kits and a declaration that says: ‘Because I am free I have power, I know who I am, I can dream big, I can open up and let the sunshine in, I can relieve stress, I can be charitable, I can save a penny, I can have hope, I can have a new beginning.’ …I wanted to take this pain and give them a reason to smile and a reason to go on – and that is what life is all about, to encourage someone else. …If you don’t have anybody to encourage you then you do things to feed into whatever the ‘in’ crowd is doing. …Because they don’t love themselves.” ...

Healthy Eating Benefits Creativity

Dee Doan es is the author of the paranormal mystery fiction book, The Man With the Green Suitcase . She’s active in several charities and conducts a youth poetry workshop for the Atlanta Writers Club Youth Writing Camp, and is the former co-chair of the Writing in the Schools Program for Georgia Writers. I asked Dee to tell us a little about herself and this is what she had to say: “ I’m Dee Doanes, a writer and healthy food and healthy living enthusiast.   Most people know I’m a writer but I’m also a life-long healthy food enthusiast. Or, as some close friends call me, “a health food nut.” Writing is important but eating healthy is even more important. Without eating healthy food on a regular basis you don’t have good health, which affects everything in your life, including the creativity of a writer. It makes sense for writers to eat healthy foods to increase creativity so they can tell their wonderful tales.” www.deedoanes.com Writers Can Boost Creativity By E...
