Speaker and award-winning author  Lynn Mclaughlin and I met in late December 2022 after I stumbled upon her YouTube channel and reached out to her. Kudos !!  I'm sure most of our readers have heard of the concept of businesses and even entire countries purchasing carbon offset credits. This is done to put a value on the positive improvements others are doing, selling that credit to those who cannot yet make the transition to sustainability. It is a way of encouraging people to make the change and taking responsibilities for their own actions.  There are many ways to do this however today, I'd like to highlight the carbon credits available through TerraPass.com . They have created credits by choosing to use energy efficient equipment and lighting systems and going as paper-free as possible. Kudos A big shout out today for all those providers of "to go" items who are taking every effort possible to make the world a better place by choosing a greener packaging option.  Recently, a local pet shop ( https://www.kootenaypetstop.ca /) left us with a little gift - a bag of " Northern Dog Biscuit Company' s "chicken poutine biscuits for dogs. We were surprised and grateful for their little gift... they are a very warm and respectful local pet supply business that offers delivery to your door at no cost and online shopping as an option as well. They have a great supply of toys for dogs and, yes, I always get a couple every time I order food.  So as I'm looking at the packaging for the dog treats, feeding the very grateful dogs, I notice it is a Canadian company with all natural ingredients. Kudo's Despite the cultural misconception that cities are horrible environments where no wildlife can thrive, in a world where more than 1 million species are at risk of extinction, we are seeing that larger corporations are now embracing more than energy and resource efficiency endeavours. Cities are creating more green spaces, residents are participating in a variety of ways, business are rising to the challenge and schools are jumping on board too.  Green roofs, green screens, green walls, backyard gardens, indoor gardens, hanging baskets, tree planting and balcony gardens all play a huge role in nature coming back to the city. These little green islands have helped butterflies, birds and pollinators survive, and in some cases - recover and thrive.
