   Sam Bentley’s channel focuses on sharing positive news.  Here he is featuring the Buy Food With Plastic organization, operates in several poverty-stricken areas - paying people to collect plastic bottles and bring them to the centre for a free meal.  They employ people to sort the materials and turn it into value-add products – which pays for the wages and the food. This impact of this organization is wide: with over 102,523 meals served to those who would have otherwise gone hungry - but also removing 42 million plastic bottles from the environment and creating 106 jobs. Easy Green Living Tips The most common mistake we make is not understanding exactly what is going on in our area in regards to waste management, recycling and take-back programs. The best thing to do is once ever couple of months assign a project to a staff member, or a grandchild when they are visiting - to double check and see what has changed in regards to the recycling and take-back programs in our region, because it is changing and improving all the time.  The city will have a website where you can find current programs listed. However, you'll need to dig a little deeper too.  There could be companies that have take-back programs that are not necessarily a part of the city's waste management programs.  Become familiar with your suppliers, retailers that you shop at regularly and learn what they are doing to be more sustainable.  Take the time to get to know your mechanic, friends with workshops, programs happening in the community to find out what they might nee...

Today is another great example of the accumulative power of small positive steps like making new connections and strengthening networks.  You see, back in 2021 we met Robin Fenway online who soon became a friendly business connection for a couple years. It was through this person that we learned of Heather Phillips, of the Magnificent Mommas blog, a short time later.  After getting to know each other better, Heather soon invited us to participate in her Book Of The Day section where she celebrates other authors. I absolutely adored this discussion on Nancy Guitar's Small Talk Youtube Channel -  This was such a great conversation about living green!  A topic I adore, and her condo building should be commended for the green and conscious policies it has in place 🙂 Kudos to them!!!
