be prepared

One of the kindest thing I have seen in the realm of entrepreneurship are businesses that insist on having a few products, gift certificates and blank gift cards stored in a cupboard.  Business owners that do this find that makes it easier to spontaneously share something nice.  Super handy especially if you didn't know about the event earlier, or that moment where you are inspired to say "Thank you" .   Take, for instance, the scenario that your clients just told you that they were celebrating their 20th anniversary. It is easy to excuse yourself for a moment, go to the back and put a little package or sign a card before returning to the room. Tuck in a few of tchotchkes, sample products or or gift certificates - whether they are in-house or they are for your networking connections.  People will remember you and your business for a very long time. They will feel valued. They will certainly talk about the thoughtful gift for several days to come. They will also ...

Networking tip

Today, we'll discuss "Anne" (a fictional character) who is considering a variety of ways to supporting her contacts, valuable connections, cherished suppliers, clients, customers, neighbours and staff. This year, "Anne" is making the decision to create an action plan that will enhance and solidify connections within her networks. She has decided to create dialogue via surveys and by directly asking questions that reveal what interests her contacts may have - both professionally and personally, Learning more about their business means she can refer people to that contact more easily. It also means she is aware of their products and services.  Based on this Anne can now network by obtaining gift certificates from her contacts, and use these in her upcoming contests, door prize packages, or draws. She had done some research on a slow afternoon, and discovered several holiday calendars online and these gave her plenty of ideas for fun and unusual events to celebrate...

Business Owner Advice

Thank you for your patience while we transitioned to the new location and settled in. A lot has happened in just a short time from that moment in April when we tentatively queried a realtor about downsizing. By mid-May we had downsized our belongings, relocated the drum teaching/repair studio and moved in to our new-to-us "tiny home" living. We chose to do this in order to focus our energy on living life fully, projects in the to-do list and in preparation for the semi-retirement stage that we hope to obtain in the future. We also said "farewell" to our fuzzy cutie fur-kid Korma (in picture below)... as she had reached the appropriate age for letting her go. Yeah - that was a lot to take on and it happened super fast... right?! Faster than expected, that's for sure. However that was the situation and so we pivoted our attention from our publication schedule and action plan in order to focus on the tasks at hand. Well, the office is now set up and ready for us ...

answering your q's

Lynda asked this question via FaceBook Messenger :  " As prolific writers, podcasters, bloggers and marketers, how do you manage your time and day? "  Time management is always an issue - it's a delicate balance, really. 2 hours per day in marketing, 8 hours per week managing the 2 blogs, 6 hours per month to manage this channel, 2 hours per day spent in communications. Whew. In between that, well I'm busily taking courses, going to webinars and doing research for the next step in the action plan. Or I'm busily writing like a busy little bee. ;)  Check out the full response in this video:  https://youtu.be/lOn2aQa9BnA   ~~~     Follow the Brummet's & Find their  Books:   on Amazon Visit:   Drum It With Brummet Blog Subscribe:   Brummet Media YouTube Channel   ~~~

Business Terms 2

We have produced several videos to date helping to define business & marketing acronyms & how they might apply to both a single person with one book all the way to a small business with an office or retail establishment.  This new series continues with this by looking into: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & ESG (Environment, Social, and Government) are similar terms used to describe the same concept. ESG is a term most often used by people involved with investors.  *  A bit of dyslexia showing there lol I accidentally said "CRS" instead of "CSR" a couple of times. Apologies... but you know what I meant, right? :) Learn how these can be used to benefit your entrepreneur journey today:     https://youtu.be/wr65n7g8ILw ~~~     Follow the Brummet's & Find their  Books:   on Amazon Visit:   Drum It With Brummet Blog Subscribe:   Brummet Media YouTube Channel   ~~~

Social Media 101

Social Media 101 for Entrepreneurs There is no denying that social media outlets are valuable tools to use in your marketing activities. However, the key to success for business owners is to sensibly plan the time they spend on social media.  You will need to consider the kinds of social media you will be using, what could be announced and how often to post. Pacing out social media activities avoids over-saturation of the market. Keeping the content fresh can also be a challenge. Ask yourself: Is there a way to run a fundraising campaign for a worthy cause? Is your office willing to collect items for the food bank? Perhaps you have decided to set up recycling bins for items like batteries and light bulbs and returnable beverage containers that your clients can also use. Or perhaps your office can set up a contest. Maybe your work place has had some improvements or a new mural was painted on the building. Perhaps you can get a project happening with your contacts. Maybe you can put ...

Media Appearance

Media Appearance Did you know that partially due to COVID, but also just a sign of our times - there are 1000 or more books published in the English language every single day? How are you going to stand out among that snowstorm of published books? ...With Purple Snowflake Marketing techniques, of course :) Host Karen Kelly (who is an author , herself - her book is Lillian White's Journey ) had me on her Authors & More channel to discuss the various ways writers can stand out, make their queries more effective, use their time more efficiently and market wisely. https://youtu.be/-SyAYjS_JNU   And if you enjoyed it... please do share it :) ~~   Visit the Brummet's   Main Website Find them elsewhere online HERE   ~~

recommended resources

Recommended Resource Advertising, promotions, networking and media materials, websites, blogs, ezines, newsletters, business cards, pamphlets and all our social media... each of these are like billboards representing all that we are and that is why it is so important to unify the look and ambiance for everything we use, be it online or in print. Whenever someone looks at anything you do they immediately feel it is you because of the images and colours you choose.  Colours, as we discuss in depth in our Purple Snowflake Marketing book, have a huge impact on consumers' emotional response. You've seen major fast food restaurants use bright colours that stimulate hunger and energy, but are bright enough that people don't want to linger and lounge about. Offices use colours that stimulate calm contemplation, and gyms use colours that impact energetic activity.  Today's resource will introduce you to the topic of colour choice, how it impacts the people you are tr...

Tips for Advertising Efficiently

Tips for Advertising  Efficiently When it comes to advertising efficiently it helps if you understand that people will only make a purchase if they perceive  certain benefits. Therefore, before you do anything, be sure to make out a list of reasons why someone would buy your product or use your services, and what the benefits are.  Make a second list of the important features of the product, people, business, or service involved in the current project that you hope to draw attention to.  It can take a lot of creative thought to weave these two lists together in such a way that few words are used, but the message gets across.  The next task is to evaluate who your customer might be and determine which advertising outlet is already reaching out to those prospective customers within the location that you are able to serve.  The ad space placement in that publication is most important, you'll find higher priced ads are often placed in a...

Conscious Marketing Tips

-- Marketing Consciously -- I’ve been in the world of writing for nearly 18 years now starting out as a freelance writer and book reviewer, later moving into staff writing positions, and now I focus on marketing the books 5 books I’ve written so far, running a radio show and managing a blog. With this background I’ve had the opportunity to develop relationships with editors, acquisition officers, agents, publishers, reviewers and promotional agents – and through these relationships I’ve learned three important skills. Ø   1 st : that writers have to put themselves in the contact’s shoes to really understand what they need from us. Ø   2 nd : to develop relationships with people in the industry. Ø   3 rd :  to keep networking relationships alive. While these points could really entail an entire book – I’d like to cover them briefly here. #1 – Put Your Self In Their Shoes: Writers need to understand wh...

Of Writing

-- Quote of the Day --  “One of the most difficult things for me is when I have had to change my writing styles to go with a particular media that I am working with (newspaper or magazine, trade press, or breaking into TV) the styles are all quite a bit different – how you express it in different forms of media. I’ve had to pretty much allow myself to change. …I don’t like to be forced …to change my style, it is pretty painful – but the truth of the matter is adapt or die, it is pretty much a fact. …Challenging yourself is something that as a writer you makes sure that you are doing the best job that you can do.” ~ Jef Benedetti --> Today’s quote originates from the Conscious Discussions Talk Radio episode that aired back on Dec 2… titled: World of Writing  (*Click on the title to access the full discussion)   -- Brummet's In the Media --  I am pleased to announce that I wi...
